In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, a young man threw his wife out of the house for his girlfriend. A condition was set to perform Halala with the brother on returning to the in-laws house. When he did not agree, he pronounced talaq thrice and sent her to her parents’ home. On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against six people including her husband.
The incident took place in Barber’s Mandi police station area. The girl resident here was married to a young man resident of New Khaspura of Shahganj police station area on 19 October 2020. The victim told that as soon as she reached her in-laws’ house, she came to know that her husband was having an affair with another woman. Would beat up any protest. Mother-in-law and father-in-law also supported the husband.
Meanwhile, gave birth to a daughter in October 2022. After this the harassment from the in-laws increased further. One day, the mother-in-law and father-in-law sent her to her maternal home on the grounds that the daughter-in-law was not of her choice. After a few days, when he came back to his in-laws house, he put a condition of Halala to his brother-in-law. Said that due to living in the maternal house for so long, the marriage with the son has been rejected.
Said that if you want to live with your husband, you will have to get Halala done with your brother-in-law. On protesting, the in-laws beat her. Due to this he lost hearing in one ear. On March 9, 2024, on the pretext of getting medicine, the husband divorced her thrice and left her maternal home.
